- outscored12-1 over the final seven frames en route to a 15-4 win over the Jaguars Wednesday at Ray E. Didier Field.

NSU (17-18) pounded out 16 hits, led by Keith Cormier who went 4-for-5 with two doubles, one home run, three RBI and three runs scored. Tyler Duplantis finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.

South Alabama (15-17) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Adam Ballew and Cameron Cummings led off the game with consecutive singles. Cole Gleason followed with a walk to load the bases with no outs. Hayden Jones followed with an RBI single to left field to score Ballew and give the Jags a 1-0 lead. Matt Wojciechowski followed with a sacrifice fly to center field to plate Cummings and double the USA lead to 2-0. Justin Cullifer delivered a one-out RBI single to left field later in the inning to score Gleason and extend the Jag lead to 3-0.

Nicholls State answered with three runs in the bottom of the first to tie the game. The Colonels cut the Jag lead to 3-2 on a one-out, two-run home run to right field by Cormier. Justin Smith reached on a two-out walk, and Charles Morton followed with a double to left field to put two runners into scoring position. Tyler Duplantis then lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to score Smith and tie the game 3-3.

Duplantis gave the Colonels a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the third on an RBI fielder's choice.

The Colonels then posted a six-run fourth inning to take a seven-run lead. Phillip Lyons reached on a one-out single, and moved to third on a double to right-center field by Leo Vargas. A walk by Jaguar right-hander Matt Bell to Cormier loaded the bases for the Colonels. Smith followed with a sacrifice fly to right field to score Lyons and extend the NSU lead to 5-3. Morton reached on an error when Ballew dropped a two-out fly ball in center field to allow two runs to score and push the Colonel lead to 7-3. An RBI single by Duplantis gave NSU an 8-3 lead one batter later, before David Zorn's RBI single to right field later in the inning extended the NSU lead to 9-3. Christian Correa followed with an RBI double to the left-center gap to push the Colonel lead to 10-3.

Tanner Vandevere delivered a pinch-hit double to left field to lead off the bottom of the seventh, and later scored on an RBI single to center field by Vargas to extend the NSU lead to 11-3. Cormier followed with an RBI double to right-center field to push the Colonel lead to 12-3.

NSU added its final three runs in the bottom of the eighth. USA loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the ninth, and Cummings followed with an RBI single through the right side of the infield for the game's final run.

Cummings went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored to lead the Jags at the plate. Gleason went 2-for-4 with one run, and Cullifer finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Zach Thiac (2-2) earned the win in two scoreless relief innings for the Colonels. Matt Bell (2-5) took the loss in 2 2/3 relief innings, allowing two earned runs on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Matt Peacock tossed 2 1/3 scoreless relief innings for USA, and finished with a pair of strikeouts.

South Alabama will return to action this weekend when it hosts Arkansas State in a three-game Sun Belt Conference series, beginning with game one Friday at 6:30 p.m.
